The Lake

Lake Algonquin is a town owned lake (1.2 sq. miles) that was created by damming the Sacandaga River, with a small hydro-electric dam at the end.  To the north, there’s a small but free sandy town lake beach at the foot of the Route 30 bridge. Also, the town maintains a free dock and boat launch on the west side of the lake. The lake is small enough for kayakers, but large enough to allow for waterskiing and tubing.

There is a scenic overlook and fishing access platform, just a five minute walk from our places, which is accessible to persons with disabilities. Included are a picnic area, landscaping, crosswalk, and parking area. The platform is found on Algonquin Drive, near the dam.

Our guests enjoy the use of our association's private beach. Just a short three minute walk from the cottage or cabin. Our watercraft can be launched a short two minute walk away. The town's very nice public beach is located at the north end of Lake Algonquin.
